Chicago, IL (May 2, 2018) – The Halal Guys, a fast-casual Middle Eastern restaurant famous for pioneering American halal food, will open its fourth Chicago restaurant May 5 at 1415 N. Milwaukee Ave.
Residents in the Wicker Park neighborhood will soon be able to enjoy The Halal Guys’ famous chicken and rice platters, gyro sandwiches, white sauce and hot sauce. The new restaurant, owned and operated by Steven Chong and Vincent Tan, will be the pair’s third Chicago location, with restaurants currently operating in downtown Chicago and in the Gold Coast. The two Chicago natives opened the restaurants in 2015 and 2016 respectively, and have been with The Halal Guys for two years.
“We are thrilled to be opening our third location in Chicago,” said Vincent Tan, local franchise owner for The Halal Guys. “We were both raised in Chicago and fell in love with The Halal Guys’ original street cart after a trip to New York City. We’re excited to bring more delicious halal food to the Wicker Park neighborhood.“
On opening day, the new store will be open from 11 a.m. until midnight, and the first 100 fans in line will receive a free limited edition t-shirt. In addition, on May 5 all customers will get a chance to spin a wheel for a free sandwich, platter, fries, or drink while supplies last.
The Halal Guys opened its first food cart in 1990 on 53rd and Sixth Avenue in New York City after noticing the huge demand for halal food within the Muslim cab driver population. The Halal Guys has since become a global brand, with more than 350 restaurants currently in development world-wide, and was recently named the fastest growing restaurant concept on Restaurant Business and Technomic’s annual Future 50 list.
This new Chicago location will be open 11:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
