Earlier this week, I attended the Mardi Gras celebration at ultra-chic STK. I was almost deterred by the raining-cats-and-dogs situation happening in the city, but truth; I’ll find any excuse to wear a masquerade-caliber mask. I was immediately enthralled in the ambiance when I walked in on Fat Tuesday. The feathers; the burlesque dancers; the cotton candy machine(!!); they all had me in awe and I immediately forgot about the monsoon going on outside.
Though I’ve never been to New Orleans, I felt like I could have been somewhere in the French Quarter. The NOLA-inspired appetizers gave me that warm and fuzzy Who Dat feeling—shrimp & grits, oyster sliders, spicy sausage and all the Bulleit Bourbon a girl could want.
The burlesque dancers were beyond—I’ve got to get their gym regimen—and Young Jeezy came by for a visit. Which makes me fondly think of college, so any time he wants to pop into an event, I’m all for.
If you didn’t have a chance to stop at STK for the event, you’ll most definitely want to come into the modern steakhouse/chic lounge for dinner or drinks. It’s a must-visit restaurant in Chicago, implementing itself as a hotspot favorite and confirming its talents in the kitchen.
